Travel Essentials for the Men Who Never Ask for Anything

Buying gifts for men is easy. Finding something they'll retire their old favourite for isn't.

You convince yourself a shirt will fit, hope he doesn't already own the watch you've shortlisted, wonder if he'll actually wear the perfume, and then spend far too long deciding whether a wallet is something you can really choose for someone else. Most men don't exactly make it easier either. They'll say they don't need anything, insist the one they have is "still good", and somehow manage to use the same wallet or travel bag for years without thinking twice. It's why most of us end up searching for practical gifts for men, something they'll genuinely use instead of something that simply looks good in a gift box.

Maybe that's why travel pieces make such good gifts.

For all the miles they cover, whether it's for work, weddings or weekend plans, most men give surprisingly little thought to the things that travel with them. The passport wallet isn't replaced because they fancied a new one, it's replaced because the corners have finally started peeling or a boarding pass slips out one too many times. The duffel isn't upgraded because it's out of style, it's because the zip finally gives up five minutes before leaving the house.

Packing has its own routine. The clothes are usually sorted in minutes. It's the little things that take the longest, the passport that gets moved from one pocket to another, the cards that somehow end up in yesterday's trousers, the business card you realise you needed only after you've left home

Watching that ritual over and over is what led us to design our Passport Wallet. We wanted one place for your passport, cards, cash and business cards, without making it bulky or overly polished. We chose canvas as the primary material because it wears beautifully over time, and bonded it with a leather board so it maintains its shape, trip after trip. It's a unisex passport wallet, available in a range of colours, designed to slide just as easily into a work backpack as it does into a carry-on for a holiday.

The same thinking shaped our canvas duffel bag. Not for the once-a-year vacation, but for the Friday evening drive to another city, the overnight work trip, the quick visit home, or the weekend that started with "I'll only be gone for a day" and somehow ended with an extra pair of shoes and three outfits. The sturdy PU leather handles and shoulder strap make it comfortable to carry, while the lined interior and thoughtfully designed compartments keep your travel essentials where you expect them to be, instead of making you empty the whole bag just to find your earphones.

We don't really think of these as gifts for men. We think of them as the things they'll keep reaching for long after the wrapping paper is gone.

A few years from now, the canvas will be softer, there'll probably be an old boarding pass tucked into one of the pockets, and the corners will have picked up marks from airports you'll barely remember. That's usually when you realise you chose the right travel companion.
